" Pity
all newlyweds. She cooks something nice for him, and
he brings her flowers, and they kiss and think: How
easy marriage is." |
|
 |
|
"
Though women are angels, yet wedlock's the devil." |
 |
|
" A
wedding is just like a funeral except that you get
to smell your own flowers." |
 |
" I
dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance,
A church filled with family and friends.
I asked him what kind of a wedding he wished for,
He said one that would make me his wife." |
 |
|
" Wedlock is a padlock." |
 |
|
" A
great poet has seldom sung of lawfully wedded
happiness, but of free and secret love; and in this
respect, too the time is coming when there will no
longer be one standard of morality for poetry and
another for life. To anyone tender of conscience,
the ties formed by a free connection are stronger
than the legal ones." |
 |
|
" They
dream in courtship, but in wedlock wake." |
 |
|
" The
Wedding March always reminds me of the music played
when soldiers go into battle." |
 |
|
" You
should never kiss a girl unless you have enough
bucks to buy her a big ring and her own VCR, 'cause
she'll want to have videos of the wedding." |

Rose: I love you, Jack.
Jack:
Don't
you do that, don't say your good-byes.
Rose:
I'm so cold.
Jack:
Listen, Rose. You're gonna get out of here, you're
gonna go on and make lots of babies, and you're
gonna watch them grow. You're gonna die an old... an
old lady warm in her bed, but not here, not this
night. Not like this, do you understand me?
Rose:
I can't feel my body.
Jack: Winning that ticket, Rose, was the best
thing that ever happened to me... it brought me to
you. And I'm thankful for that, Rose. I'm thankful.
You must do me this honor, Rose. Promise me you'll
survive. That you won't give up, no matter what
happens, no matter how hopeless. Promise me now,
Rose, and never let go of that promise.
Rose:
I promise.
Jack:
Never let go.
Rose:
I'll
never let go. I'll never let go, Jack.. |
 |
Jack:
Don't do it!
Rose:
Stay back! Don't come any closer!
Jack:
Come
on, just give me your hand. I'll pull you back over.
Rose:
No, stay where you are! I mean it! I'll let go!
Jack: No, you won't.
Rose:
What do you mean, "No I won't"? Don't presume to
tell me what I will and will not do, you don't know
me!
Jack:
Well, you would've done it already.
Rose:
You're distracting me! Go away!
Jack: I can't. I'm involved now. If you let
go, I'm gonna have to jump in there after you.
Rose:
Don't be absurd. You'd be killed! The fall alone
would kill you. Jack: It would hurt. I'm not
saying it wouldn't. To tell you the truth I'm a lot
more concerned about that water being so cold.
Rose:
How cold?
Jack: Freezing. Maybe a couple degrees over.
You ever been to Wisconsin? They have some of the
coldest winters around. I grew up there, near
Chippewa Falls. Me and my dad would go ice fishing.
Ice fishing is where you...
Rose:
I know what ice fishing is!
Jack:
Sorry. You just seemed like kind of an indoor girl.
Anyway, I fell through some thin ice and I'm telling
ya, water that cold, like right down there, it hits
you like a thousand knives stabbing you all over
your body. You can't breathe. You can't think. At
least not about anything but the pain. Which is why
I'm not looking' forward to jumping in there after
you. But like I said, I don't have a choice. I guess
I'm kinda hoping you'll come back over the railing
and get me off the hook.
Rose:
You're crazy...
Jack:
That's what everybody says. But with all due respect
miss, I'm not the one hanging over the back of a
ship here. Give me your hand. You don't want to do
this. I'm Jack Dawson.
Rose:
Rose De Witt Bukater.
Jack:
I'm
gonna have to get you to write that one down.." |
 |
" Love
can touch us one time
and last for a lifetime,
and never let go till we're gone." |
 |
Jack:
Rose! You're so stupid. Why did you do that, huh?
You're so stupid, Rose. Why did you do that? Why?
Rose: You jump, I jump, right?
Jack: Right.
Rose: Oh God! I couldn't go. I couldn't go,
Jack.
Jack: It's all right. We'll think of
something.
Rose:
At least I'm with you.
Jack:
We'll think of something. " |
 |
Rose:
When the ship docks, I'm getting off with you.
Jack:
This is crazy...
Rose: I know... it doesn't make any sense.
That's why I trust it. |
 |
|
"
Old
Rose:
No, there wouldn't be, would there? And I've never
spoken of him until now... Not to anyone... Not even
your grandfather... A woman's heart is a deep ocean
of secrets. But now you know there was a man named
Jack Dawson and that he saved me... in every way
that a person can be saved. I don't even have a
picture of him. He exists now... only in my memory." |
 |
|
"
Jack! This is where we first met." |
 |
|
"
Look, I guarantee there'll be tough times. I
guarantee that at some time, one or both of us is
gonna want to get out of this thing. But I also
guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll
regret it for the rest of my life, because I know,
in my heart, you're the only one for me." |
 |
|
"
Don't forget. I'm just a girl standing in front of a
boy...asking him to love her." |
 |
|
" He
was like an angel, you know? I never knew life could
be like that. He was the one thing I followed
through in my life, the one thing I didn't give up
on. I was good at loving him." |
 |
|
" Kiss
me. Kiss me as if it were the last time." |
 |
|
" I
would rather have had one breath of her hair, one
kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than
eternity without it. One." |
 |
|
" My
husband and I fell in love at first sight... maybe I
should have taken a second look." |
 |
|
" A
heart can be broken; but it keeps beating just the
same." |
 |
|
" I
always just hoped that, that I'd meet some nice
friendly girl, like the look of her, hope the look
of me didn't make her physically sick, then pop the
question and... um... settle down and be happy. It
worked for my parents. Well, apart from the divorce
and all that!" |
 |
|
" To
love is to suffer. To avoid suffering, one must not
love; but then one suffers from not loving.
Therefore, to love is to suffer, not to love is to
suffer, to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to
love; to be happy then is to suffer, but suffering
makes one unhappy; therefore to be unhappy one must
love or love to suffer or suffer from too much
happiness. I hope you're getting this down." |
 |
|
" I
love that you get cold when it is 71 degrees out. I
love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a
sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle in
your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I
love that after I spend day with you, I can still
smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that
you are the last person I want to talk to before I
go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm
lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I
came here tonight because when you realize you want
to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you
want the rest of your life to start as soon as
possible." |
